Payroll software with East African roots

UzimaHR started when a finance team in Nairobi spent an entire weekend rebuilding spreadsheet formulas after an NSSF Gazette Notice. We built the system we wished existed — compliant by default, honest about its limits, and fast enough for month-end.

Our mission

To give every Kenyan employer — from 25-person startups to multi-branch enterprises — payroll and HR tools that match the complexity of local statutory law, without enterprise software prices or six-month implementations.

Our values

Uzima — vitality in every payroll run
Our name means life and wellness in Swahili. We believe accurate, timely pay is foundational to employee dignity — not an afterthought in a generic HR suite.
Built here, for here
Kenya's statutory landscape is unique. We design for PAYE bands, NSSF tiers, SHIF transitions, and M-Pesa disbursement — not as plugins on a Western payroll engine.
Honest compliance
We show our rates, our sources, and our caveats. When Finance Acts change, our versioned engine updates — and we tell you to cross-check with KRA anyway.
People who've run payroll
Our team includes former payroll officers, finance directors, and HR leads who've felt the pain of spreadsheet errors before month-end close.
